Gymnaestrada 4.-7.6.2026
Gymnaestrada will take over the entire city of Joensuu. This is a major gymnastics event held every four years in Finland. It is the largest and most spectacular urban sports event in the country, bringing together both enthusiasts and top athletes to perform, compete, and experience something new.
Over 10,000 gymnasts will gather in Joensuu—about half of them children and youth, and the other half adults.
Competitions in all gymnastics disciplines will take place at the Areena, Ice Hall, Motonet Areena, and Urheilutalo. On Sunday, the closing event will fill the central field with mass performances, each featuring over 1,000 gymnasts at a time. Throughout the event, club performances will be showcased on city stages. Evening galas will feature skilled performances from Finland and abroad.
The year following Finland’s Gymnaestrada, the World Gymnaestrada will be held, bringing together gymnasts from around the world. In summer 2027, the event will take place in Lisbon, Portugal.

JoenVoLi invites everyone interested to join the event! We will participate with several performing groups of different levels and assist the Finnish Gymnastics Federation in organizing competitions at the Ice Hall and Urheilutalo.
You can join as a performer, volunteer, or spectator in this highlight of the summer! No prior experience or skills are needed to become a performer or volunteer—there’s a suitable role for everyone!
